Desertscape Garden Renovated
Come see the New Plantings and Design of the Desertscape Garden
June 1, 2010 brought the beginning of the renovation for the Desertscape Garden.
The winter of 2009-2010 was a difficult one for all plant species, and especially the plants of the desert.
The renovation started by decreasing planting areas for better water usage and manpower coverage.
The Desertscape Garden relays on rainwater and is considered a water free garden.
However all plant species require some water and nutrients.
So we do need to water in drought times and when applying fertilizer.
We have provided a hacienda look to the garden and constructed a terra-cotta wall to symbolize adobe.
A natural patio and walkway makes the garden more accessible to all visitors of the gardens.
This was a difficult garden to complete, due to the hot summer temperatures and no shade.
This garden could use more plants, so if anyone has an abundance of cactus or succulents, please bring them to the Spring Hill Garden Club Nursery and share them with the Botanical Gardens.
Come on over and see this newly renovated Desertscape Garden!
After renovating the gardens, Nature Coast Botanical Gardens had a grand re-opening in the fall of 2010.
